Le Presbytere is a stunningly traditional 5* property situated in the beautiful Dordogne valley. It can accommodate up to 7 guests spaciously. The property has been fully restored throughot, creating wonderfully comfortable accommodation. The property is situated in secluded grounds, opposite the castle and the church of Nadaillac.
The property comprises:
A fully equipped kitchen with microwave, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. To the left of the hallway there is a large sitting-dinning room with exposed beams, stone fireplace and a large refectory-style dining with medieval high backed chairs. Stairs lead from the sitting room to the first floor where all the rooms have exposed beams and wooden floors. There are four bedrooms and they are all equipped with televisions, DVD players, music dock safe and wifi. There are also four bathrooms.
The nearest shops are in St Julien de Lampon. All of the best sites of the dordogne valley are very close (30 minutes away). The shaded terrace, which runs along the back of the house, overlooks the private heated pool (5x10) and enjoys views across the countryside.
The Dordogne (or Périgord) region is one of the most beautiful parts of France, well known to the French for its' food and wine. There is a saying, “en périgord, on mange bien, on boit bien”. Périgord is the home of truffle and foie gras. There are numerous local restaurants, all serving regional delicacies and delights. For history enthusiasts, Dordogne offers countless prehistoric caves for exploration.
The world-renowned Lascaux and Font de Gaume, with their cave paintings and artefact's, are both close by. The national museum of prehistory, only 30 minutes away in Les Eyzies, provides a good starting point. Entrance is free on the first Sunday of every month. It is within easy range, as are numerous chateaux and bastides – medieval fortified towns – which mark historical turning points, from the Viking era to the resistance of the French protestants.
Rocamadour is also nearby, just a 30 minute drive away and is one of the most beautiful village of France and the most popular. The river Dordogne is just 2km from the house.
Other interesting sites such as Beynac, Dome, La Roque Gageac, Lascaux, Les Eyzies are all less than 30 minutes drive.
The house is on one of three hilltop villages within sight (and a short drive) of each other. The beautiful village of Nadaillac captivates visitors with deer, flower displays and an excellent restaurant. Its' illuminated church tower is a landmark at night. St Julien, with fresh bread daily, offers several excellent restaurants. An enjoyable 30 minute drive to the south lies the medieval town of Sarlat.
