Special Rental Conditions
Bedding and towels:
We provide bed linen (100% Egyptian cotton sheets, cotton & wool blankets) plus bath & hand towels, but please bring your own pool towels (although these can be hired for a nominal fee if you would like to save space in your luggage). Beds will be made up for your arrival. Bed linen and towels are changed weekly for longer stays.
Children:
We are happy to accommodate children of all ages. We have cots with bedding, high chairs, bed-guards, a microwave steriliser, stair gates, baby monitor, anti-slip bath mats, children’s cutlery, plates and some suitable toys/books available for young children. For slightly older children there is a big play area away from the houses, a large sandpit, seesaw, swings, climbing frame, boules’ pitch, badminton court as well as acres of land to explore. There are bicycles in all sizes to borrow (no helmets though) and cycle tracks all round the property.
Communal areas:
Set within the lime-tree shaded courtyard, a barn has been created into a shared games room with table tennis, darts and table football. There are numerous bikes, trikes and toys to keep our younger guests happy. Secluding the houses are fields and woodlands where you can stroll in the shade of the woods or borrow a map of local walks. There is a covered summer kitchen with a barbecue for you to use instead of your own private barbecue if you wish. Meals can be arranged on request. There are a number of fruit trees in the gardens including the famous Mirabelle Prune (small, firm yellow/red plum) and fresh herbs dotted around – please help yourself!
Heating:
La Chataigne has electric radiators and 2 inglenook fireplaces (1 of which is a stove). For stays in our cooler months, wood is provided for your use. There are fans in all the bedrooms.
Privacy:
Les Taloches consists of 3 houses, La Châtaigne, La Grange and our home which is discreetly tucked away behind our huge barn. Each house has its own entrance, parking area, garden and pool.
Toiletries:
We provide artisan French guest soap in each toilet/bathroom and in the kitchens Le Petit Marseillais antibacterial hand soap.
Cleaning products:
We provide eco-friendly dishwasher tablets, washing-up liquid, and other cleaning products for your use. Nappy sacks and bin liners are also provided.
To ensure you all have a good vacation, mid-week cleaning can be arranged for an additional charge (please ask). Please note that on departure the property & BBQ must be left clean and tidy. The only time additional end of stay cleaning charges may be imposed is if excessive cleaning of the property is required (starting from €200).
About us:
We live at Les Taloches and will be available to give you any assistance with planning visits, arranging horse-riding or canoeing and booking restaurants, etc.

Local Attractions
Set either side of a lime-tree shaded courtyard is La Châtaigne, an oak-beamed 18th century farmhouse and La Grange, a huge stone barn transformed into a superb house. Both houses are great for families and groups sleeping between 8 and 20 people (plus babies) and can be hired individually or together.
Tourtoirac is a pretty riverside village, central to which is the historic Saint-Pierre-es-Liens Abbey and the remains of the former Benedictine monastery from the Roman 12th and 13th century. Just 10 minutes walk away there is a bar / bistro on the river, a restaurant, a traditional boulangerie, a grocery shop, and a lovely river to paddle in. A 5 minutes drive away on the outskirts of the village are fascinating caves – La Grotte de Tourtoirac. Tourtoirac also hosts an annual week long music festival in August (genres ranging from classical, jazz and Celtic) and for keen cyclists the Lawrence of Arabia route goes through the village.
