Les Oliviers enjoys magnificent easterly views over the Plateau d'Albion and the Vaucluse Mountains. The pool is located conveniently close to the house and the covered terrace. From here, you can take breakfast in the sun, lunch in the shade and dinner under the stars. The poolside is well equipped with sun-loungers and parasols along with a variety of items for fun in the water. For families with toddlers or young children, the covered terrace can be fenced off to deny access to paved pool area.

The lower ground floor comprises an integrated lounge, dining room and kitchen in a large, high roofed room with beamed ceiling. The lounge has comfortable seating around a stone fireplace, where you can watch TV (BBC/ITV etc) videos and DVD's. We have provided a selection of videos for you to watch, CD's for you to listen to and books for you to read. Alternatively, why not bring along your own favourites. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with a pullout larder, dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer, electric oven and ceramic hob. Those interested in cooking will find numerous additional appliances and utensils. A washing machine, iron and ironing board are all at your disposal. We would like to point out that Les Oliviers is situated on two levels with 5 steps leading from the lounge to two double bedrooms. A handrail is positioned alongside the steps.

The main bedroom has a double bed and an en-suite shower room. A single step leads up to the spacious shower. The second bedroom has comfortable twin beds and an en-suite bathroom with shower attachment. Both bedroom windows are fitted with mosquito nets. The bath and shower are fitted with hand rails. We provide hair dryers, night-lights and adaptors. The windows in each bathroom are fitted with mosquito nets and can be left open at all times as safety grills protect them.

Outside:

The covered terrace leads directly to the poolside. There is a gas fired BBQ located on the terrace as well as sun-lounger cushions, seat cushions and a chest containing games and pool inflatables. Les Oliviers has a sloped garden with olive trees bordered by a shrubbed rockery. A mulberry tree gives extra shade in the hottest months.

The pool at Les Oliviers – 4 x 8m reaches a depth of 1.6m at the deep end and 1.20m at the shallow end. It is accessed by ladder-steps and is equipped with an alarm system, which complies with recent pool safety legislation. The area around the pool has colourful flowerpots in summer and there is plenty of room at the terrace end for two parasols, four sunloungers an outdoor table and 6 chairs.

Local Attractions

From Les Oliviers, you can walk to the village in 25 minutes. It will take less than 5 minutes by car. The 17th century windmill above the village of St Saturnin looks across to the location of our homes half way up the hillside called "Le Perreal". The oppidium of Perreal was a Celtic and Ligurian site and was occupied throughout antiquity. This was the most important pre-Roman habitation in the region and pre-dates the town of Apt, 6 km to the south. The authentic, medieval village of St Saturnin-les-Apt nestles along the base of a long, low cliff with the ruins of an 11th century chateau above.

The church and the village’s two remaining windmills date from the 17th century. St Saturnin village provides you with many facilities: two bakers, a small supermarket, a butchers, pharmacy, tourist office, post office, olive oil mill, cave a vins, hairdressers, estate agents, pottery and ceramic studio and gift shop. Every Tuesday morning, market stalls occupy the village square where you can buy fresh meat, fish and vegetables as well as delicious cheeses.

In the summer, there are also several gift and clothing stalls. Below the ramparts lies a rainwater lake, well stocked with fish several times a year.

Fishing permits are available in the village. A stroll around the village will take you past fountains, medieval archways and facades of interest. The area around St Saturnin is popular with hikers and walkers.

You can find maps of the various trails at the village tourist office, located next to the post office. After your tour, why not quench your thirst at one of the cafes or enjoy a meal at one of the four restaurants in the village.

The nearby market town of Apt is a 10-minute drive from our home. Here you will find shops selling Provençal items of all types - clothing, pottery, gifts and food. Apt is the centre of the crystallised fruit industry. Each Saturday morning, the most famous market in the Luberon is located here. Colourful stalls line all the streets and squares. You can spend hours browsing, buying gifts or fresh, seasonal produce. It is an experience not to be missed.
