Built in 1881, La Gaudane was to house 26 embroidery looms. A tall and imposing building, yet always welcoming in its rich drapes of Wisteria, Trompette and Virginia creeper. This majestic antique building sits on Cordes lowest slope so there are six storeys on the lower side but only three and a half on the higher side! La Gaudane is made up of three self-catering Loft Apartments and The Lodge. All the Cordes-sur-Ciel holiday rental apartments are equipped with all the latest appliances, and are furnished in a fascinating mix of antique and very new, including of course, essentially top of the range luxury beds.
These charming Cordes-sur-Ciel apartments can be accessed from the blue gate and the back courtyard and are only one floor up on the loft stairs. There is a a fenced pool, petanque court, large sunny terraces and the orchard. To the rear is the French courtyard garden. The properties are 400 yards from grocers, patisserie, bakers, bank, post office and weekly market, etc.
The Owners Apartment – Sleeps 8/10: Stunningly spacious apartment occupying the entire second floor of over 3000 square feet. Two large bedrooms and a bathroom at each end joined by an enormous salon with TV, snooker table and several distinct areas to relax. Equipped with all the modern appliances.
Loft Apartment South – Sleeps 6 plus convertible:
A vast apartment of over 2000 sq.ft with three bedrooms and a luxury bathroom with free standing bath. Fully equipped modern, two furnished bedrooms with luxurious double beds. The third children’s room has bunk beds for two. There is also a double convertible. TV, music centre, cassettes, plentiful books and games.
Penthouse Loft North – Sleeps 2/4:
Fantastic open plan 1400 sq.ft apartment with north light on all three aspects. Spectacular views on all sides even from the luxury free standing bath. All our designer’s creative skills have gone into this lovely penthouse. Luxurious double bedroom, Luxury kitchen area, and bathroom. Quality furniture, masses of clear space. So the apartment sleeps 2 to 4.
The Lodge Apartment – Sleeps 2 + 2:
Our very newest apartment! One large fully equipped kitchen and dining room, TV, music centre. Convertible for a child or visiting guest. Bedroom with superb bathroom. Extended for 2009 by a second room, study or lounge. It still sleeps 2+2 (or 2+3 child

There are also over 200 museums in the Tarn, including the Lautrec museum in Albi. Cordes is surrounded by vineyards and we can guide you round the best for tastings and lunch. There are medieval and music festivals at Cordes and elsewhere.
Nearby there are other festivals every week from Easter to October.
For the truly active there’s golf at any of several superb courses, cycling, tennis (La Gaudane have a complimentary stock of golf clubs, racquets and bikes), canoeing down the spectacular Aveyron Gorge, hiking, horse-riding, caving, fishing, swimming at two big waterparks or cruising down the Tarn. And plenty more on offer!
