WE TRAVEL FOR PLEASURE. Arrival in Menton is an exciting experience. Menton is centrally located a 5 minutes drive from Italy
and just 15 minutes from the infamous Monte Carlo.

WELCOME TO OUR HOME. Our fully renovated beachfront apartment, built in the 17th century, is located in the center of the Vieille Ville, the vibrant, historical, Medieval district of Menton. Our street, once a Roman road called the Via Aurelia or Julia, has developed over the millennia into the Rue Longue. Paved in stones, with walls painted in Mimosa yellows, Siennas, Ochers and Tuscan reds it is yours for the duration.

We are one flight up. A large living room with a 16 foot high frescoed ceiling is the apartment’s richest feature. Three large 5 foot tall windows allow magnificent , unencumbered views of the Mediterranean sea and mountains all the way to Bordighera and San Remo in Italy. You can be on the beach in two minutes. From these same windows you can see your safely parked car. In March the air is so clear that the island of Corsica can often be seen on the horizon.

The spacious living room includes a convertible sofa, two leather club chairs, antique mirrors and chairs carved in the Menton style, television/VCR cable, WIFI, radio and stereo.

The dining table sits eight. For the benefit of wine lovers we have provided good wine glasses to help you savor the areas special AOC wines: Cotes De Provence, Bandol, and our favorite ,Vigonier.

The fourth window,in what the French call 'an American Kitchen' , opens onto the narrow Rue Longue. Refrigerator, dish washer, stove top, microwave, built in washer and dryer are there for your use. The unusual dish storage is a Vaissellier, a Provencal crockery shelf.

The apartment accommodates four people comfortably. There is a large bedroom with full bed and a smaller bedroom with a trundle bed. A small ceiling frescoe was discovered when we removed ceiling tiles. There is a bath with generous shower space, towel heater, hair dryer and a separate WC (toilet).

CAFFEINE AND CHOCOLATE: Menton is the archetypal Mediterranean town. Perched on the French-Italian border,it provides the traveler with the delights of both France and Italy. This small town of 30,000 is nestled between Monaco (10 minutes away by train) and the Italian Riviera (a 20 minute walk) with the Nice airport 30 train-minutes away. Open to the sea and protected by an amphitheater of mountains which block off Mistral and Tramontane winds, it enjoys a subtropical 'micro-climate' allowing for seven exceptional botanical gardens to flourish. The Tourist Information Office in the Palais D'Europe, Ave. Boyer, will provide you with information and schedules.

Life is simple. We wake up expecting a sunrise, walk to our small bakery for hot croissants and pain au chocolat,(a croissant roll with one or two melted chocolate bars tucked in).

Suitable for children.
