Tastefully renovated Puyloubier holiday home nestled at the foot of Mont. Ste. Victoire

The house is a traditional ‘maison de village’, and the foundation dates back to medieval times. The interior of the house combines traditional style with modern amenities. Comfortable electric heating units are installed in every room, and the water is heated electrically. One bedroom and the upstairs lounge are air conditioned and the lovely terrasse offers views of the mountain, the plain below and the surrounding village.

It comprises four rooms and two bathrooms, the kitchen/dining room and bathroom downstairs, and the master bedroom, second bedroom and second bathroom on the second floor, and the terrasse (see great view, above) and lounge upstairs. It sleeps five comfortably, on one queen bed, one double bed, and one foldout sofa. The bathrooms include two showers but no bath.

The main room downstairs features a traditional cheminee or mantle, over the wood stove (not currently functioning) and kitchen counter. A dining table and chairs, a couple of other chairs and a dishwasher, clothes washer, modern gas stove and north american style refrigerator complete this room. The sink is made of stone, and is centuries old!

Nestled at the foot of Mont Ste. Victoire, 15 miles east of Aix-en-Provence (469 miles S of Paris, 50 miles SE of Avignon, 20 miles N of Marseilles, 109 miles W of Nice) is the picturesque village of Puyloubier.

It is just large enough to sustain a grocery store, post office, cafe, restaurant, bakery and variety store, and is home to the award-winning local Cave Cooperative, selling wonderful and very inexpensive wine. From the house, visitors can walk up this mountain immortalized in the paintings of Paul Cezanne

Puyloubier is close to amenities of every kind. Three quarters of an hour’s drive south is the Mediterranean, and the coastal beach of La Ciotat and the fishing village Cassis. Marseille (the best and most authentic bouillabaisse), a major business, cultural and port town is a similar distance and Nice is less than two hours to the east. Aix, the local town of 500,000, is famous for its music, food, markets and beautiful street-scapes of narrow lanes and tree-lined avenues.
