A stunning house in a beautiful setting. It was so..

A stunning house in a beautiful setting. It was so wonderful to have so much outside space (lots of opportunities for french cricket and boules!). We found the house very well set up, with so many added touches (the bottle of wine on arrival, the numerous board games and DVDs) which helped to make our stay so enjoyable. Mervyn and Barbara couldn't have been more helpful, and it was good to know that there was someone on hand to help if we had any problems during our stay. On our one rainy day we drove into Jumilhac and had lunch in a little restaurant near the Chateau. The Chateau itself is typically French and we really loved the guided tour. Our visit from Monsieur Louis was very welcome, and provided much amusement to those of us who had to dredge up our GCSE french!

The cottage is in a fantastic location being very private and very close to the lovely town of Jumilhac le Grand where the Boulangerie is highly recommended and there are a couple of bars/restaurants. The grounds of the cottage were the highlight with a lovely pool and huge garden which was used every day by our 3 active kids. There is plenty of space in the cottage and the log burner was well appreciated when the nights were cold.

Mervyn was extremely helpful and was always on top of the pool maintenance and was a fantastic source of local information.

We have found communication with yourself to be efficient and informative, leaving us comfortable with all the arrangements, thank you.

Another great holiday in this charming house. This is the third time we have stayed at Pouyade D'Artis and the first since the change of owners. If anything the house is even better than before- tidier and less cluttered but still well equiped and a perfect base to explore the Dordogne or stay at home and relax.

We had a lovely week's break at this adorable stone cottage full of rustic charm and character. It is located in a very rural set with delightful views over the open countryside and French apple orchards. The cottage itself is well equipped and a real home from home with the dining and living room all open plan and comfy. The weather was great during our week's stay and the pool proved a big hit allowing some respite from the warm afternoon sun. In the evenings as the sun went down we took advantage of the outdoor patio area and barbeque whilst sipping a bottle or two of the local wine. The nightime silence brings a sense of utter tranquility where you can reflect on the events of the day and leave any stresses at home behind.

The surrounding area is really beautiful and plenty of things to see and do. Canoeing on the river that flows through the delightful town of Brantome was especially enjoyable and the nearby chateau at Jumilhac is a sight to behold and well worth a visit. The local store and patisserie is a five minute drive away while larger supermarkets are a further 15 minutes away and a must for stocking up on the provisions for the week.

All in all we had a very enjoyable and restful week and a stay here is highly recommended. We will definitely be back.

To go green and disconnect
We were looking for an isolated vacation spot, with all the comforts and in a beautiful region: it is found ..... at five in a Périgord house with a very British style, we took advantage "with pleasure" of the fully equipped kitchen, large attic bedrooms and a huge living room (piano, english books, games). Outside, ideal for "lazing around" by the pool after a BBQ on the deckchairs facing the hills: this is the Dolce vita: you wait for the sunset. The owners have done everything to make you feel "at home": WELL DONE .... I ´LL BE BACK

We had a lovely week at Nigel's property! Peaceful and secluded, a perfect place to unwind and shut off from the world! Found a lovely swimming lake nearby with beach and small play park which we and the kids loved (in Nantheuil). Lots to do in the area, but also great time just spent in the garden, next to the pool or on the balcony with a book. It was great to have the pool and would stress to all future families with young children, the pool alarm is truly a lifesaver and works as it should, as it was tested by out 2 year old within 30 minutes of arriving at the property! Thankfully all was fine and once all had recovered from the shock the experience actually made all 3 of our children more sensible around the pool.

The photographs do not do this property justice and is a lovely welcome when you first arrive to discover the area and space inside and out which is included! Would recommend to anyone in search of peace, quiet and a true family get away!

A great cottage set amongst lovely surroundings with views overlooking the countryside. Fully equipped with modern appliances for all cooking and clothes washing, good sized pool, sports / entertainment equipment. Property is rustic with good sized rooms throughout. A good central location within the Dordogne area with numerous attractions nearby.

Our second holiday here. We had stayed last summer. No disappointments on our return. Scenery scenic, roads quiet and house clean, spacious, well equipped with a new kitchen installed since our last stay. Too far to walk to the nearest bar but this can be seen as an advantage with teenagers.
Perfect for cycling ( so long as your enjoy hills!)
