Spacious Farmhouse in Cote d'Or, Burgundy - Le Verger de La Chaume

La Chaume is a beautiful, spacious and recently renovated farmhouse situated in the Chatillonaise national park. This character property is surrounded by rolling hills and deep forests. It's well equipped ensuring guests a hassle and stress free experience. The house is situated on the southern edge of the tranquil village. A bar/restaurant can be found in the village.

Recently renovated and modernised,  this former farmhouse has retained much of it's original charm and character.
The farmhouse sleeps up to 5. It comprises two bedrooms, a double with a super king size bed, the other has 3 single beds. The upstairs modern bathroom includes a shower cubicle.

On the ground floor there is a large dining room, a large lounge and a well-equipped modern kitchen.

Outside there is a large patio at the back of the house as well as ample parking and at the front a secluded garden.
Well behaved pets are welcome.

The well equipped kitchen includes ceramic hob with fan oven, microwave and dishwasher. The dining room can seat 6 people. There is a spacious lounge which includes UK TV and DVD. Each room has electric heating and there is a double sided log burner between the lounge and dining room.

The entrance to the farmhouse is at the back of the house through gates that provide parking and privacy. The kitchen door leads on to the patio where you can enjoy peace and quiet and the lovely Burgundy weather. There are sun loungers and patio table and chairs so you can enjoy that glass of local wine accompanied by food cooked on the barbeque.

The Area:

The lovely countryside surrounding La Chaume invites strolls along the quiet roads to the nearby hamlet of Lucey following the pretty stream. For longer walks there are numerous tracks through the surrounding forest where deer, red squirrel, hares and foxes can regularly be seen. The local roads are ideal for cyclists.

It is an excellent location for bird watchers as a rich variety of birds including hen harriers, buzzards and kites can be seen. Also owls can be seen in the evening which nest in the surrounding barns. At nearby Leuglay there is a centre for discovering forest trails.
10 minutes drive away is Recey Sur Ource where you will find local shops, a post office and tourist information centre.
There is also Carp Lakes and Fly fishing within a 20-30 minute drive of the Gite.

The nearest town in this area is Chatillon Sur Seine which is 20 minutes drive. where there is a 13th century church, museum and tourist information office as well as café's, restaurants, shops, supermarkets and a market. An hours drive away is the charming Medieval town of Semur en Auxois with its turrets and cobbled streets. Also an hour away is the historic town of Troyes with its many colourful Tudor style buildings with good restaurants and shopping. Dijon, the capital of Burgundy is about an hours drive south great for shopping and sightseeing.
