We had such a great time at and around the "gite". The "gite" is right in the middle of god's country, so if you're looking for a some quiet time in the middle of beautiful natural surrounding, this is the spot. The view is wide and open. Also, there is plenty to see and to discover in the surrounding area, and there are some very nicely priced restaurant nearby as well. The nearby village, Charolles, abt 10 minutes by car, is quite beautiful, and steeped in history. Shopping-wise, it has everything you need. The gite itself is has that typical rural feel, and it's clean and nicely kept, with all appliances, etc available. Last, but not least, the owning couple Ann & James are the perfect hosts, who can provide you with some good pointers on local points of interest. They have restored this local old run-down farm to a beautiful rustic oasis right in the middle of rural Bourogne. Highly recommended !!
The hosts made us feel welcome right from the moment we booked. The emails with bank details and the itinerary were all very friendly. On arrival, Ann and James showed us around in the gite, which they renovated with lots of attention to detail, both in the gite and the surrounding garden. During the week of our stay, they were available for advice and a little chat. There was a bookshelf with all sorts of books to choose from and the various maps of the area were very useful. We particularly enjoyed the view from the terrace with the Charollais cattle and the trips on the countryside roads with all the churches and castles.
Wonderful gite in the middle of the French countryside, enjoying pleasant rural views. The gite was spotlessly clean and very well equipped, with the addition of a freezer from the website list. Ann and James made us feel very welcome and were available for help and advice when asked. The location lends itself to a 'make your own holiday', as there are few structured tourist places nearby. Relaxing in the wonderfully maintained garden is a joy.
