Local Attractions
manages to combine the needs of modern holiday makers with the traditions of a provençal
fishing port. The town boasts a modern marina, here cruisers, large and small, are moored,
while the old town centre, with its restaurants, bars and boules parks, has been carefully
preserved and its character retained.
THINGS TO DO
This part of the Cote d'Azur has some of the prettiest beaches on the Mediterranean.
Indeed, Le Lavandou boasts 12 beaches, each with a different colour sand! Most of our
guests like to spend their time lazing on the beach, swimming in the sea or the pool and
catching up on their reading. However, for the more active, sailing, windsurfing and waterskiing and golf are all available locally.
DAY TRIPS
Sometimes you may want to do more than laze on the beach or by the pool. There are
plenty of interesting places to visit in the area. Bormes les Mimosas is the local hilltop
village. It is visible from the villa and is only a 5 minute drive away. It is a maze of paved,
flower-bedecked streets, packed with local craft shops, bars and restaurants. Bormes is
well worth a visit in the day or evening.
The Isles d’Hyeres are easily accessible by ferry from Le Lavandou port. The home of the rich and famous, St. Tropez, is just 20 or so miles along the coast, (beware traffic in July and August is heavy) and near to it is the venetian style port of Port Grimaud with its mix of homes and shops set on canals. The pretty hilltop villages of Gassin and Ramatuelle are also close by and well worth a visit. If you want to venture further, the Gorges de Verdon, Aix en Provence, Avignon, Nice and Marseille and Monaco are all feasible day trips.
