Some of the must see places close to La Surprise:

Some great restaurants, low cost or 5 star.
Domme – spectacular views to the Dordogne river, great old hilltop village top explore, places to eat and caves below to see.
Eymet – lovely village, nice to walk around, many restaurants. Favoured by the Brits , many who live there or close by
Monpazier – Lovely old Bastide Village ( fortified village and built during 100 years war, around a central market area.). Many small narrow streets with great medieval houses, views around every corner, places to eat or drink and close by
Tremolat – another quaint village , close to the Dordogne river, with places to eat, from 5 Star to simple lunch dishes
You can even fly there by helicopter and land at one of the Hotels. Cool eh!
Sarlat le Canada – a magnificent medieval town built in the 9th century!,Great to explore and lots of places to shop or simply have a coffee or lunch outside and watch the world go by! Full of historical houses and places to see including the Cathedral, the market days on Wednesday and Saturday, Manoir de Gisson, that dates from 13th century Sarlat has the highest density of historic monuments and buidings in France.
A must see if you are in the area is Beaumont en Perigord.
A pretty small village that hosts some great Summer evening food markets.
Many locals, and tourists, come to the evening market for the live music and in the main square, a food market. Tables are laid up for you, so wander the local food producers, that will sell you everything from local wines and beer to Duck, Steaks & salads to Oysters and even Fish and Chips!
A wonderful evening out, and not expensive for an experience with local food producers and local bands. Many go here more than once during their holiday here, as its a place to chose a varity of food with some great live bands playing.
