Gite Fitou is a one bedroom gite that can accommodate 2 – 3 persons.
This gite is all on the ground floor with high beamed ceilings. It has a large double bedroom with en-suite,a wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside cupboards with lamps. The bedroom has room for a cot or a bed for a small child.
The bathroom has a multi spray shower, vanity unit, toilet and a heated towel radiator. A hair dryer is also provided for your use.
The kitchen/dining area is spacious and fully equipped, having a gas cooker with extractor fan, microwave, fridge/ freezer, and a washing machine. A cool box and freezer blocks are provided for your shopping, picnics, etc.
The lounge area is spacious with comfortable seating. There is Sky satellite television with a DVD/CD player. There is a selection of books, board games and DVDs. There are fans in all rooms.
Each of the gites has a separate BBQ with wooden table chairs and large sun umbrella. In the large, mature and beautifully maintained garden there is a badminton net and swings. There is also indoor table tennis, table football and a pool table for guests' entertainment.
The village has a boulangerie and a cafe/bar all within 200 yards, also supermarkets and a parade of new local shops 800yds away. The Roman town of Narbonne is 6 miles. The Canal Midi for walks, cycling and boat hire is 2 miles. Golden Mediterranean beaches 16 miles. A lot more detailed information is available on our website. Airports at Beziers, Carcassonne, Perpignan, and Montpellier are under 1 hour. Toulouse and Girona are under 2 hours.
A few minutes drive away you will find boats for hire on the Canal du Midi at Le Somail, and this is the last port before the Canal de la Robine splits off and heads south towards Narbonne. The towpaths provide many miles of shade for cycling and walking.
The area has miles of beautiful sandy beaches and coastal lagoons where flamingoes abound and oysters and mussels are harvested. It is famous for its water sports with the many etangs offering safe coastal stretches of water for wind surfing and kite boarding, there are also many schools that offer tuition. Rivers, lakes and canals offer other water sport opportunities. There is a sailboard and double kayak that are available for use.
Visit and explore the Cathar castles, Peyrepertuse, Quéribus, Puilaurens, Aguilar and Termes, which were largely destroyed by Simon de Montfort, are in semi-ruins, but they remain impressive and you can admire the magnificent views from these fortifications high on rocky outcrops.
