We [family of 4 inc. 2 young children] were seeking a child-friendly, quiet, s/c accommodation within reach of countryside beauty & kids activities (for us to get a chance to lock hands behind heads). This was found in abundance at Le Batison.

Maddie met us upon arrival, gave a brief intro and left us to it. The place was clean and fresh upon arrival (important to us), provisioned with both necessary and additional amenities required for residing comfortably. Kids were spoilt with toys/games both in the lounge and kids toy-shed out in the garden. In addition, kids were kept occupied outside with the sandpit, swings, mini slide, feeding Maddie's hens and spacious lawn during relaxing days. There was a collection of DVDs for the player, books and wifi for those wanting to keep up with the world.

The downstairs was open-plan - kitchen/diner and lounge area with enclosed master bedroom and adjacent wash closet. The upstairs donned a double bed, 2 single beds and a cot with further space for kids to play with even more toys. An outdoor table and chairs provided the perfect place to sip merlot and observe the frequenting neighbouring sheep tugging at grass across the fence.

Local to the property is the beautiful Brionne town with a lake (& beach artefact) inc. playground and sublime walks around blissful greenery. Lovely for picnics and a shallow dip.

We used Le Batison as a great base for seeking out Normandy and visiting the famous Bayeux town, Trou/Deauville beaches et.al.

A lovely holiday home in a lovely location. The house was fully equiped and beautifully clean. Maddie and Bruno were warm and welcoming, happy to help wherever possible. The neighbours (chickens and sheep) entertained not just our daughter but us too. The view in the evenings when sipping wine and cooking over the BBQ was so tranquil. It was a great base for investigating the area.
I would highly recommend it to anyone!

Maddie is a perfect host - there when you needed her but kept her distance otherwise. We had a couple of hiccups at the start but everything was dealt with good humour on both sides & she was instantly on the case. She very kindly left us milk, butter, jam & bread plus a bottle of local cider & a couple of bottles of beer so we had something when we got there. The gite is very comfortable with everything you need. The garden is lovely & the chickens were good fun, scrabbling to eat our scraps. She gave us a very good price for our almost 5 week stay which was great & which included a good supply of linen & towels so I didn't have to bring any or have to worry about laundering them. This saved us a lot of space in the car - all the better for returning with our car boot finds. Maddie loves a car boot herself & very kindly messaged me each Friday with the weekend's sales as shown in the local paper which saved me a lot of time & trouble searching them out on the Internet. The Wifi was great as well. Her folder of information was also fantastic with details of where all the supermarkets are & other interesting shops & ideas of where to visit.
I cannot praise her enough - she was the best host we have ever had. Obviously it's handy that she speaks English as our French is quite basic but she just has a lovely attitude towards her guests & wants them to have a lovely, comfortable stay which we did. Highly recommended.
