At the end of this holiday journey perhaps you will have followed the river Dordogne, found the famous Perigord Noir area, and certainly passed beneath some castle or fortified town, perched on a cliff. The village of La Roque Gageac is very near, but you leave the lively valley to climb up a small road to the hills. The slope is short (1 mile) but charming: the noise abates, the atmosphere becomes quiet and the view expands. A stone wall, the entrance to Roquecombe, and here is the place!
The cottages extend all around the little valley. You recognise your own cottage, but you turn your eyes a moment towards the Dordogne valley, now visible down through the hills …

Because everything is near the Roquecombe gites: you are in the heart of the Perigord Noir. The rental houses are at 8km from Sarlat, and 2km from the river Dordogne. Domme is on the opposite hilltop, Castelnaud or Beynac castles and the Marqueyssac gardens are within range of a "trebuchet".
Le Pigeonnier is a typical 3-level Perigord tower, joined to a wing which has a comfortable living room and a well equipped kitchen. Le Pigeonnier is a truly accessible tower since it has five different access points. Multiple nooks, noble materials (stone, wood, terracotta…), and the beautiful fireplace give it the charm and authentic character of the Périgord.
Offering an excellent view towards the valley of the Dordogne, Le Pigeonnier is an independent house, separated from the other houses of the domain and having its own private spaces. Its wooded environment offers freshness and shade during the hot season. A path allows you to walk through woods and up to the top of the slope dominating Castelnaud, Marqueyssac, La Roque Gageac and Domme. The enclosed swimming pool can be easily reached across the meadow.
