Local Attractions
The medieval village of Caylus nestles in the beautiful Bonnette Valley on the border between Quercy and Rouergue. Just 12 minutes drive from the farmhouse, it is a thriving village with boulangeries, butchers, small supermarkets, bars and restaurants, so croissants for breakfast are within easy reach.
This region features oak forests, rolling hills, spectacular river gorges and valleys, medieval bastide hilltop towns, amazingly preserved castles, warm and friendly people in local villages, each with its own vibrant weekly farmers market.
Predominantly a farming area, the fruit and vegetables are outstanding as is the local wine, duck and goats cheese.
St Antonin Noble Val, situated in the dramatic Aveyron Gorge, is only a short drive away where you can go kayaking, canoeing, rock climbing and cycling or simply just enjoy wandering around the famous Sunday morning market. This village is so picturesque it has been the centre of numerous films, most recently '100 Foot Journey', starring Helen Mirren.
There are an abundance of places to visit within very easy reach such as Cahors, Montauban, Albi, Corde-sur-Ciel, Narjac and Toulouse, France's fourth largest city.
For those who like driving, the Mediterranean or Pyrenees are both within easy reach. Finally, don’t forget the wine. “Le Pigeonnier” is situated between the wine producing regions of Gaillac and Quercy and a visit to the vineyards is recommended.
