LOCATION
Situated on the edge of a small village and 15 minutes drive from both Le Bugue and Les Eyzies.
LE BUGUE a small town with twice weekly market, supermarkets,shop,commerce and medical centre. Good choice of restaurants, cafes and bars suitable for all the family. In and around the local area there are many tourist attractions. We also have good range of brochures in the house to save you a trip to the local tourist office.
LES EYZIES again just a short drive is a pretty town here is sited the Museum of Prehistory which is now a UNESCO site of special importance. Sit at one of the many pavement cafes and marval at the scenery or visit one of the caves/grottes Font de Gaume is one of these with cave paintings that rival Lascaux. As in Le Bugue here you can hire a canoe for either a few hours or a full day if feeling energeiv or just take a leisurely stroll along the river.
Perigueux the capitol of the region, Bergerac surrounded by vineyards and the old medieval town of Sarlat are all approximately a 40 minutes drive.
If you enjoy shopping then the large town of PERIGUEUX the capitol of the region is well worth a visit. With its cathedral, museum and old quarter housing specialist shops full of the local delicacies of the region. BERGERAC a lively town on the Dordogne river surrounded by its vineyards the old town tumbles down to the river here you will find the Maison du Vin learn about the practice of making wine. After buying your picnic from th market in Bergerac - perhaps the local delicasy of foie gras - taste the sweet white wine of Monbazillac the chateau is close by on the slopes of the vineyard and the wine is a perfest accompaniment to your French picnic or even better served chilled for an aperatif on the terrace at the end of your day.
Another day take a drive along the Dordogne from the house via LE BUGUE then stop off to visit BEYNAC with its grand chateau towering down over the pretty village continuing along by the side of the river to DOMME a famous bastide. Or turn off and take the road to medieval SARLAT with its ancient quarter again full of food shops - yes food plays an important part in this region. During the summer you will be serenaded whilst dining at one of the many eating places. A lively place at any time of the year. Then take the road to LES EYZIES and home arriving full circle after your perfect day.
