Bijou is a cosy one bedroom cottage just a short walk away from the pretty village of Montignac sur Vézère and shares a large swimming pool with two other gites. Montignac is a traditional village with shops, restuarants and festivals all year round, making it perfect for a couple or individuals wishing to unwind and relax.
Bijou cottage has been wonderfully renovated in keeping with traditional themes yet incorporating modern features.
The gite comprises:
Ground floor: Entry from the courtyard into the equipped kitchen which opens onto the combined dining/living room. There is a wood-burning stove (for heating during the winter season) and french doors opening out onto the pool & garden. The shower room and WC is downstairs.
Stairs lead from the lounge to a twin bedroom overlooking the pool and beautiful Lascaux hillside.
Bijou cottage is attached to La Lavande, meaning it is ideal for families/friends wishing to holiday together yet still retain some personal space.
The twin beds can be adjoined and made up as a double if notified in advance. There is also a washing machine.
Bed linen, bathroom towels & kitchen towels are included with the exception of pool towels.The pool is open from the beginning of June to the end of September.
The cottage is situated in the expansive grounds of the owner’s home, nestled at the base of the famous Lascaux hillside. It is fabulously situated next to the recently opened famous Lascaux 4 complex, and there is a restaurant and a bar just a short stroll away. Amongst things to do and places to see nearby, guests can walk to the medieval riverside town of Montignac in 15 minutes to experience its' riverside restaurants, bars, cafés and canoe hire. There is also a weekly Wednesday market along the river and a local produce market every Monday evening in July & August where visitors can dine al fresco on the tables provided.
A music and dance festival is held every year at the end of July which attracts visitors from around the world. The famous caves at Lascaux and the Château de Losse are close by. The stunningly beautiful old town of Sarlat is less than a half hour drive and hosts cultural events in the summer. La-Roque-Gageac and the ancient city of Domme, known as the Acropolis of the Dordogne, are less than an hour’s drive.
For those who prefer a more energetic holiday there is canoeing, horse riding, cycle hire, quad bikes, go carts, adventure parks and golf courses all within easy reach + various lake side beaches for those who want a change from lounging by the pool. In and around Montignac there are many designated woodland and country walks, this region has some great rides through spectacular scenery for cycling enthusiasts.
