Special Rental Conditions

Pet Fee £50.
Refundable Damage Deposit £150.

The weekly prices shown include a changeover charge for cleaning, bed linen and towels. The place is really set up for weekly rentals or longer, since we don't live nearby, and we have to pay someone to drive up to the house from the nearest town for every changeover.

But we are happy to consider shorter lets. For less than a week the rate is the daily rate shown times the number of nights, plus the changeover fee of £50, which we have to pay regardless of the length of stay. Please note that we reserve the right to not accept bookings of less than five nights during high summer.

If you are interested in a longer term rental, do please contact us.

The difference between our low and high season prices is smaller than some other properties, because ours include water and electricity, regardless of season, while many properties charge extra for electricity for winter rentals. We think this is misleading.

Local Attractions

Cassagnes, on a hill overlooking the Agly River, is surrounded by stunning, dramatic scenery. Bordered by the Pyrenees mountains and the Mediterranean, the rocky limestone and granite landscape is covered with a mat of fragrant, low-lying shrubs – 'garrigue'. Aromatic plants such as lavender, rosemary and wild thyme flourish along with juniper and oaks, interspersed with Côtes du Roussillon vineyards clinging to the rocky slopes.

The vineyards are everywhere you turn. The combination of Mediterranean climate, higher, cooler slopes, and granite-rich soil makes Roussillon one of the most productive wine-producing regions in the world. The best wines may use the appellation Côtes du Roussillon Villages, and there are four communities that enjoy a further refinement, adding their name to the end. One of these, Côtes du Roussillon Villages Caramany, includes wine from the slopes around Cassagnes. In the village there is a wine-maker – vigneron – whose wife gives tours of the local vineyards (details on our own website, a link to which is at the bottom of this HomeAway page).

The area offers excellent walking right on the doorstep. And the Agly is a favourite destination for rafting and canoeing. Cassagnes is just a 30' drive from Queribus, the last Cathar stronghold, and one of the most atmospheric. Closer still are the pretty fortified villages of Latour-de-France and Bélesta, previously frontier towns between France and Spain.

Cassagnes is just 45 km from miles of sandy Mediterranean beaches, and even closer to one of France's prettiest and liveliest cities, Perpignan. With its strong Spanish and North African influences, it offers many restaurants, cafes, bars and shops.
