La Chouette (The Owl house) is a tranquil stone farmhouse situated in a tiny hamlet 5 minutes from the friendly, bustling village of Moulins-Engilbert in the Morvan National Park. Moulins-Engilbert is host to numerous bars and restaurants, a supermarket, banks, boulangerie, patisserie, butcher, pharmacy, post office, and delicatessen.
The house stands in its own private grounds, with a separate annexe "La Porcherie" which accommodates an additional 2 guests. The property has been reonvated to a high standard and there is ample off road parking. It boasts a large, secluded garden, and a large south-west facing patio with bbq and garden furniture. There is also an adjoining orchard. In addition, there is a large stone barn which serves as a Games area. The annexe is surrounded by fields and country lanes.
ACCOMMODATION - The farmhouse has had a brand new kitchen fitted in 2017, includes a large open-plan living and dining area, with a feature stone fireplace and log burner.
On the first floor, there are two double bedrooms, a large shower room and separate toilet, as well as ample wardrobe space on the mezzanine landing which has views towards the Morvan hills.
The whole property has WIFI, and there is a CD player, TV with access to French and UK stations and DVD, in the farmhouse.
The Annexe consists of a cosy sitting area, a kitchenette with microwave and washing machine, a shower room and toilet and a large double bedroom with double doors opening onto an outside sitting area with a small table and chairs.
THE LOCAL AREA - Within a short drive of the hamlet, you can explore the canals of Burgundy, the Morvan National Park with hundreds of kilometers of walking, cycling and horse-riding trails and the forests and lakes of the Morvan. The town of Autun, with its Roman history and the archaeological site at Bibracte are on the doorstep. The house is the ideal base from which to explore, and is ideal for birdwatchers and nature-lovers. We even have resident owls and red squirrels in the garden.
Regular markets and seasonal festivals are held in surrounding towns and villages from spring to autumn. This is a perfect area in which to relax, unwind and explore traditional rural France.
