Lovely Secluded Country Holiday Home in Pouzy-Mesangy, Allier, Auvergne, France

This lovely Allier country cottage is set in a wonderful location. With it’s fantastic views, peaceful environment, walking and birdwatching this is the ideal spot for a relaxing French break. The cottage has been converted from part of a barn and we have ensured all of its original features have been retained. We have also used traditional materials throughout. With double glazing and a wood burning stove for those cooler months, this it a great spot for Spring, summer and Autumn holidays.

Set within 5 acres of beautiful meadow with only the owners on site, a large courtyard separates the cottage from the main house ensuring our guests can enjoy a secluded and private environment.

The Cottage is made up of a large open plan living room, corner kitchen area and a spacious double bedroom with en-suite bathroom. The kitchen area is well equipped and includes oven, hob, microwave, toaster, refrigerator, freezer, coffee maker, dishwasher and washing machine.
In the living/dining area there is dining table, comfy seating, a sofa, coffee table and a wood burning stove. The bedroom is ideal for a couple with a King size bed, comfortable mattress, a large sitting area and a small double futon bed if you want to bring additional guests. The en-suite bathroom includes a large corner bath with overhead shower, wash basin and toilet, heated towel rail and hair dryer.

Outside the cottage you can relax in the beautiful garden with is pond and lovely views of the surrounding countryside. The outside terrace is very private andl equipped with reclining chairs, table. chairs, and a barbecue.There are also numerous shady areas when the sun gets too hot. You are quite likely to see deer and hares in our meadow and occasionally wild boar as well.

Boules, darts, table tennis, badminton, cross country bikes, and a 180 metre golf driving range are provided free of charge (bring your own golf clubs and balls). We can also provide a canadian type canoe on the river Allier for a small charge. this is to cover the cost of taking you to the river and collecting you 25 kms downstream.

There are plenty of local restaurants nearby that we are more than happy to recommend. One in particular is set in a converted sheep barn which is run by a young couple who do the cooking and front of house themselves. It is great value for money and the menu includes lots of fresh vegetables, salads, meat from the family farm, vegetarian dishes, and more.

There are picturesque villages to visit, brocantes, theatre, opera, concerts, and other cultural activities in the summer, and 2 lakes for swimming , both with sandy beaches. There are two 18 hole golf course within 45 mins, and the F1 circuit of Magny-Cours. The nearby towns of Lurcy-Levis and Bourbon-l'Archambault are where you will find the nearest supermarkets, as well as small shops, and several markets.
