Great vacation!
Palairac is a pretty, typical Corbières village where life is good. Ideal place to visit the Cathar castles, Lagrasse, Fontfroide Abbey etc. and even go spend a day at the sea in Leucate or Narbonne. It is located on a GR and you can do a beautiful 3-hour walking loop starting from the village. Tuchan is about fifteen minutes away by car. There is a mini market, a great baker and a municipal swimming pool where we often refreshed ourselves at the end of the afternoon. Small swimming pool ideal for children! We bathed in the Verdouble at the entrance to Paziols and in the Orbieu at Ribaute, idyllic places. Jane's house is located on the village square. It is an old building built on 3 levels. It is very pleasant and spacious. We didn't use the living room and downstairs kitchen. Yet this place stays cool during the summer but there is no refrigerator. We used the one on the 2nd floor where there is all the necessary equipment. This room is hot in this summer period but the heat was bearable thanks to the fans. It opens onto a beautiful east-facing terrace, very pleasant in the evening because it is in the shade and with a lovely view of the surrounding hills. The 1st floor is also accessible directly from the small street going up. There are 4 bedrooms, 2 shower rooms and a bathroom. It was ideal for our family of 2 couples, 2 children and a baby. We were even able to accommodate another couple for 2 nights in the first floor bedroom accessible by a very steep staircase leading to the downstairs kitchen and which also has a bathroom. It is an atypical house, full of charm. Thanks to Jane for her information and for allowing us to arrive a day early to avoid traffic jams on the road. Great stay
Two weeks of vacation to visit the region which is very pretty, with its beautiful landscapes, its Cathar castles, Carcassonne... The Palairac cottage, well located for all our walks, is spacious and very comfortable; you can isolate yourself or meet up in the room or on the terrace. The village is quiet and we took several walks around the village. Everything came together for us to have a great vacation. Thank you Jane for our email exchanges and for your quick responses to all our questions.
