Family Owned Converted Barn to Rent in Charente-Maritime, France ~ Le Batiment
Le Batiment is a family owned converted barn in the traditional French village of Puymoreau and is available for rent throughout the year for family holidays, romantic getaways or activity breaks. The village is set in the unique rolling countryside of the Charente Maritime region bordered by stunning sunflower fields.
The barn is spacious, light & airy and will sleep four people comfortably. It has 2 bedrooms each with its own bathroom. The master bedroom with its 5ft double bed and en-suite shower room has double doors leading out onto the lower terrace. There is also a twin-bedded room, (which can be made up as a double if you prefer, by request), with adjacent bathroom. The mezzanine area leads onto the roof terrace with views over the rooftops and fields beyond - the perfect sun trap in the afternoon with sun loungers.
The barn is a contemporary conversion with 32" flatscreen satellite television, DVD, CD player and ipod docking speaker system and all the modern amenities but with the old features of exposed stone & original beams having been preserved where possible.
The village offers a retreat for those looking to withdraw from the hustle and bustle or the ideal location from which to explore this delightful region. There are many chateaux within easy driving distance from Le Batiment and the nearest sandy beaches are only 30 minutes away. We are just 45 minutes from the historic city of La Rochelle and the recently tagged "new St Tropez", Ile de Re.
The old market town of St Jean d’Angely is 5 miles away & has a lively twice weekly produce market (Wednesday & Saturday) selling superb fish & seafood from the nearby coast plus local cheeses ; fruit; veg etc. We love to stroll around the market & then enjoy a coffee in the square. There are plenty of excellent restaurants within easy reach & we are happy to provide recommendations!
Cognac is a 40 minute drive away where there are several distilleries offering guided tours & the theme park Futuroscope is just an hour away.
Venise Verte is just 30 minutes away where you can hire a punt and cruise the canals at your leisure. A must on a sunny afternoon.
