If you are staying in the Dordogne then this is the spot to be. We were a family with two boys, aged 9 and 13, and 3 adults. The Villa was supurb, well equiped, spacious and clean. The pool was a great treat for the boys, cooling off each late afternoon, while the adults relaxed with a wine or two. Very close to the village and the river, yet away from the crowds. Easy drive into Sarlat for markets and shopping if needed.

I've stayed here many times now and absolutely love it. The house is a home from home with beautiful furnishings and a lovely atmosphere. This is not your average holiday let.It is clean and fresh with a lovely pool and secluded garden. Whether you want a holiday with lots to do nearby( canoeing, golf, balloon trips, ancient caves, vineyards, chateaux, restaurants, the village a few minutes walk away is stunning) or a quiet retreat away from the world this is the place to be. After one visit I'm sure, like me, you will want to go back.

Canoeing, top quality restaurants,

We had a wonderful holiday here, enjoying the French countryside in the Autumn sun. The house is secluded yet only a 10 minute walk into the pretty village of La Rocque Gageac where there are some lovely restaurants and a ready supply of breakfast croissants from the local bakery!

The house is clean, well equipped and spacious, with both an upstairs lounge and a traditional French Kitchen/dining area to relax in. Outside we enjoyed, sipping our wine under the vines laden with grapes, relaxing by and of course swimming in the pool.

We found it to be an ideal location to base ourselves, visiting Sarlat, Domme, Castlenaud. There were plenty of nice walks which could incorporate a stop for a leisurely lunch. The highlight for us was a cycle to St Cyprien, along the river, with again a stop for lunch!

The owners were very helpful and really the house had a nice feel to it, more like a home. We would recommend this house without hesitation.

We stayed for a two glorious weeks with three generations of family who all enjoyed the house, pool and local area. There were seven of us so there was plenty of room. In fact there were two more beds than we were expecting. We enjoyed walking into the village for bread and to eat at the local restaurants - and then being able to retreat back to the calm of La Croze. (We would recommend La Belle Etoile to foodies - pricy but worth it.) We particularly appreciated the huge fridge in the kitchen and the additional drinks fridge in the utility room. The barbecue was also a welcome addition. It was lovely to sit out after a meal in the evening under the stars. We managed to pack in canoeing (would recommend being dropped off up river to allow you to canoe back at your own pace and not have to wait for a pick-up), a visit to the chateau at Castelnaud, also a walk across the fields to Castelnaud and lunch at the slighlty eccentric but delicious tapas restaurant, La Tournepique, a trip down the river on a Gabarre (interesting English audio guide available), a visit to the Jardins de Marqueyssac (fantastic views over the river) and a trip to Domme on market day. Otherwise we were happy to laze around the house, eating, drinking, reading, swimming and using the very reliable wifi. David and Erika were very welcoming and helpful before and during our stay. All in all, a great holiday in a lovely villa in a stunning part of France.

Perfect place to stay if you want easy access to the wealth of activities on offer around this area of the Dordogne but hidden away from the main drag so you feel like you're in your own little piece of paradise. The house is spacious and clean with everything you could possibly need in a holiday home. The owners were very friendly and helpful and quick to react to any questions we had. Our family loved everything about this place and we hope to return again!

A lovely home in a charming location. From arrival to departure we were thrilled with the convenience and location of the property. You can relax by the pool, have a snack on the lovely veranda off the kitchen or lounge in the spacious family room with a beautiful view of the pool and gardens. There are many activities in easy day trip distance or you can just enjoy the beauty of La Roque. The house is roomy and very well equipped and the location is perfect. We would absolutely return.

Great country house in small but gorgeous village. Beautiful setting, relaxing in nature. Pool is great for kids. Lots of space for families in both shared living space and 5 bedrooms. Has Great kitchen and terrace for family meals and gatherings. Near medieval castles and towns, canoeing and hiking and local markets, can walk into town for boulangerie or dinner. Town is very quiet at night- 1 great restaurant for a special occasion- book a table in advance.

We spent a week at La Croze and it was the perfect place for a relaxing holiday in a beautiful location. The house is well appointed and has everything you could need. David is a wonderful host who was welcoming and helpful. La Rouqe- Gageac is a lovely little village with a fabulous restaurant and wine cave.
