Villa Tamerza is a spacious, 5 bedroom chalet-style house, situated 2km outside Bagneres de Bigorre, right in the heart of the French Pyrenees and only 10 minutes drive from the Col du Tourmalet and the Col d`Aspin. It`s a fantastic location for cycling holidays, skiing, and activity holidays in the Pyrenees or sports club training camps.
The area caters for every possible sporting pursuit for those who enjoy action holidays; including cycling, walking, fishing, climbing, skiing, horse-riding, touring, tennis and golf - or just a great place to chill out quietly with your family and absorb the wonderfully pure mountain air and staggeringly scenic surroundings.
Villa Tamerza is situated in a typical Pyrenees village. It's built on three levels. Recently refurnished and redecorated by its owners, it offers the ultimate in comfort. There are five bedrooms - 4 double rooms with King Size beds and a fifth bedroom with 4 full-size single bunk beds. The house will sleep 12 comfortably.
Over 10,000 sq m of secluded garden with woodland and lawns, with its own hard tennis court and private pool. Ideal for families. Completely safe for children. Close to Bagneres de Bigorre (5 mins), Tarbes (15 mins) and Lourdes (20 mins).
The nearest main town is Bagneres de Bigorre which is about 2km away. It's a charming old spar and market town with many bars and good restaurants, specialising in local Bigordan cuisine and typical French food. During the summer it`s a popular destination for walkers and cyclists; in fact this whole area of the Hautes Pyrenees is a cyclists paradise which is visited almost every year by the Tour de France. The famous Col du Tourmalet is one of the most legendary and gruelling hors categorie climbs in the world. A 22 km col at an average gradient of 8.5%!
In the winter, the snow-covered Tourmalet is transformed into a skiers paradise, covering a large area on both the eastern (La Mongie) and western (Bareges) faces of the Pic du Midi. The resort of La Mongie-Bareges is the most extensive of the entire French Pyrenees masif with over 125km of pistes and 65 lifts. From Villa Tamerza it's a 20 minute drive, with free parking at the La Mongie ski station, close to the main lift system. The resort has an excellent snow record and enjoys some of the best powder conditions of anywhere in the Pyrenees.
Recently six other local ski resorts, all within an hour's drive from Villa Tamerza, have formed an alliance called N'PY, which offers a common ski pass for seven local resorts. Collectively they offer a massive 300+ km of piste, with masses of off-piste opportunities.
Villa Tamerza also offers golf too. The beautiful Golf de Bigorre club boasts an 18 hole championship course with spectacular mountain views. Green fees are around 30 Euros per round. Lovely new clubhouse, bar and restaurant. Very friendly staff.
