This central region of the South of France comprises five departments, four of these are Mediterranean coastal departments: the Gard, the Herault , the Aude and the Pyrenees Orientales. This interesting city has been erected on two separate hills, Montpellier and Montpellieret, 10km inland from the coast. The streets are narrow and intimate. La Lozere - the least populated French department, covering the northernmost part of the Languedoc region. For tourists, Lozere is good for activities such as caving, skiing and kayaking.

Sete - Known as the Venice of Languedoc, Sete is situated along the coast Sete is the largest Mediterranean fishing port. There are many excellent fish restaurants that can be found here and are highly recommended. July and August see the water jousting festivals come to town. 

Perpignan - This town was once known as the capital of the kingdom of Majorca. Boasting a very Spanish feel to it which can be seen in the ambience and architecture of the town. Narbonne  - It’s busy centre for the wine trade will offer you some fantastic shopping. Founded many years ago by the Romans Narbonne is home to The Cathedral of St-Just, this cathedral can compete with some of the best in northern France today and has a number of beautiful tapestries to admire. The Benedictine abbey of Fontfroide is located in a wild valley approximately 15km from the town. 

Beziers - A town that came alive back in the 17th century when the Canal du Midi was built. Home to a well known Roman Arena offering bullfighting during the feria. Languedoc-Roussillon is a region in France that is known for its dry and warm climate throughout the year.
